In the game files the AR in fallout 4 is named 'machine gun' and was supposed to be as such including a 50cal mod for it. It has come along way from ye ol FN MINIMI that now with all the rails, telescopic butt stock and accesories etc it does look like a big fat M16 but its not lol, in fact the whole LMG is being redesigned around AR platforms with heavier barrels for sustained fire so they have the light weight of an AR but the suppressive capability of a LMG

it could moonlight as an AR but really just far too bulky and heavy but i agree its much closer to one than the in game AR. The whole weapons i personally think is poorly designed, thought out and implemented, i honestly would not be surprised to hear that they finished game were about to release then went ', we forgot guns!! quick chuck a couple in get that intern to draw a couple, that'll do'Ī 7.62 M60 is nothing like an AR, the SAW isnt either, closer but is way too big, bulky, cumbersome, heavy to ever be an AR. i bought the cricket one just to have for the collection. Was just saying that there already are ww2 weapons in gameĭont use auto weapons, the tommy gun is hopeless in this game too, exact same damage as an auto pipe rifle/sub with far less modability and 3x the weight, i have no idea what they were thinking. Just incase, i wasnt disagreeing with WW2 weapons, just replying to the guy who said 'nah cause they 300 years old wouldnt survive.'

The hardships, shortages and savagery of that war were very fresh in their nightmares and probably would be the rest of their lives, The determination to never be so weak and unprepared like that again certainly haunted them the rest of their lives., The Automat Kalashnikova of 1947 was after all designed and approved by Russian survivors of WW 2 just two or three years after the end of World War 2. I believe the ability the manufacture them with such technology in a post nuclear holocaust world was factored into their design. They could be manufactured in a late 1800s machine tools in a steam or waterwheel powered factory. I too support the idea of bringing back the AK-47, if any assault rifle is going to survive 200 years or be in production in a post holocaust world 200 years later the AK-47 should not be a surprise. Maybe offer to use his or her shop in a DLC played by how many gamers to make them really cooperative. Probably would not cost too much to hire maybe a real gun shop owner as a weapons consultant. Select fire on auto weapons makes a lot of sense too.

308 M-60 is closer to an assault rifle and makes a lot more sense. The assault rifle does look like a water cooled Lewis or Vickers and does make no sense any kind of assault rifle. Cricket sell a hell on wheels Thompson in the Spray and Pray, mod it up, do the Commando perks and it is unbelievable, try it!
